A nação está de luto pela morte de 44 CRPF jawans martirizados no distrito de Awamapora de Pulwama em um dos ataques mais mortais desde Uri em 18 de setembro de 2016. A dor e a agonia das famílias e dos entes queridos dos jawans não podem ser expressas em palavras.
Em 14 de fevereiro, um suicida da Jaish atacou um comboio da CRPF de 78 veículos com 2.500 soldados.
Em 15 de janeiro, o ministro do Interior, Rajnath Singh, e DGP Dilbagh Singh, de Jammu e Caxemira, estiveram presentes em Srinagar para a cerimônia de colocação dos 44 jawans. Eles até emprestaram seus ombros aos restos mortais de um soldado da CRPF em Budgam.
